Dr. James Goldman is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. In practice since 2007, he has performed thousands of cataract surgeries using the most advanced microsurgical techniques. He enjoys educating patients on how to reduce their need for eyeglasses along with their surgery and employs the latest in implantable intraocular (monofocal, multifocal, and toric) lenses.
Dr. Goldman received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, in Rochester New York. Residency in ophthalmology was at Northwestern University, in Chicago, where he served as chief resident. He then did an anterior segment fellowship in Miami, Florida at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He has published research involving advanced techniques in cataract and corneal surgery.
In his early years, Dr. Goldman was known as “James the Juggler” for he performed regularly at nursing homes and founded a volunteer project to use juggling as a recreational therapy for learning disabled children and victims of brain injury. His volunteer efforts were recognized in the New York Times and by the NY State Medical Society. In his free time now, he enjoys making new memories with his wife, daughter and labradoodle.
